Might Have A Gambling Problem If You Turn To Kidnapping

I was trolling around the internet looking for an idea for a new post related to gambling when I came upon this article. I’ll have to admit the story had me laughing and feeling sorry for guy that executed this scheme. Let me break it down for you if you did not bother to click open the link to read the story. I will start by saying that this is a very clear example of someone that has a gambling problem and should have gone for help instead of trying to pull of this crazy idea.

Think about this, you are a grandfather at the age of 53 and you have a 14 month old grand child. You also happen to have a small addiction to gambling on the slot machines. No big deal right? It’s not like he was hitting the big money tables at Las Vegas or anything. These were slot machines in Madrid Spain. Well it turns out he may have had a bit of a compulsion because when he ran out of money that’s when his compulsion took over and any reasoning he had in his head was out the window.

Slot MachineThis grandfather decided according to police reports, faked the kidnapping of his own grandchild and himself! He and a woman accomplice called the father of the grandchild advising him that his family had been kidnapped and they wanted 50,000 euros to secure their release. Then he faked his own escape and called again stating that he still needed the money because the kidnappers still had his grandson and they were threatening to kill him. Needless to say he was soon detained by the police and his plan was quickly discovered.

I’m sure this is not the craziest thing that someone has ever done because of a gambling habit. Still kidnapping and trying to extort money from your own family is pretty whacked out. In closing,  if for any reason you think you might have a gambling problem and you find your mind wandering to stealing cheating or even kidnapping family members for money. I am no expert but I think it might be time for you to seek some professional help before it gets to be a mess that only the police can clean up.
